Baja Dogs Calendar Photo Contest
Baja Dogs La Paz is launching their first wall calendar featuring dogs that were adopted from our program. We are conducting a Photo Contest to get the content for the calendar and are inviting all our adopters to participate. There is a fee of $15 for every photo submitted which will help with printing and distribution costs. Each Month has a theme and a dominant color, so your submissions must include:
- Photo of your adopted dog featuring the theme of the month
- Short paragraph (200 words max) describing how your adopted dog has enhanced your life.
- Date of Adoption (so we can post your dog’s name on their Adoption Day)
Judges will choose a winner for each month and runners up will be featured throughout the calendar. Winners will receive a free calendar.
Read through the entry instructions, then go to the entry form at the bottom of the page. Entry deadline is midnight September 10, 2020. Judging will be completed on September 18, 2020. Notification of the winning submissions will be done on September 20, 2020.
Who may enter
The photo contest for the Baja Dogs La Paz 2021 Calendar is open to all adopters who adopted their dog from Baja Dogs La Paz. There is a $15.00 USD submission fee for each entry. There is no limit to the number of submissions. Winners will receive a free calendar.
How to enter
The Baja Dogs La Paz Calendar Photo Contest is “paperless.” All images and descriptions must be submitted online using the entry form at the bottom of this page. Once you submit your photo and description, you pay your entry fee of $15.00 (also online).
Photo Technical Requirements
Only horizontal images taken of your adopted dog can be considered. If your photo includes other animals in your household, that is okay, but your Baja Dogs La Paz adopted dog should be the main subject of your photo. A photo you take with your cell phone or hobby camera will typically work just fine. If it is very small and we enlarge it for the calendar page, it could lose color or clarity so here are some guidelines.
- There is no limit to the number of submissions, but each submission is a separate entry with a separate entry fee
- Photos must be horizontal or “landscape;” vertical photos will not work for the calendar layout
- To be sure there is enough resolution in your photo to print at that size, minimum file size is 1 MB per photo. However, file size by itself does not guarantee that the photo has enough resolution. Check the resolution of your photo(s) before submitting and if your phone or camera offers the option of reducing the file size, anything smaller than 1 MB may not come out well.
- Max file size is 20 MB per photo
- Use “highest” JPG or PNG quality for best results
- No watermarks, dates, logos, names, etc. can be added to the photograph
How to name your photos before you upload
DO NOT use generic filenames such as image1.jpg. Original (camera) filenames will make judging more difficult. Here is an example:
dogname_photo#.png where ‘dogname’ is the name of your dog and should match the name field on your entry form below. Photo # is the number of the photo you are submitting. For example, if you are submitting 3 photos, the first submission would be ‘photo1’ and the second submission would be ‘photo2’ and the third submission would be ‘photo3’.
Please submit your photo in .png or .jpg format so it can be easily, opened, viewed, and resized without losing image quality. No animated photos please (.gif) – remember these will go on a printed calendar.
