82 animals, including 67 dogs and 15 cats, were sterilized in a single day thanks to your donations. As part...

We believe that reducing the overpopulation of street dogs in La Paz can only happen if we address the source. That’s why we work with local underserved communities in La Paz to provide complimentary sterilizations and other preventive care services to families in need. The families in these communities love their dogs and treat them like family, but often do not have the resources to provide basic health care for their pets. Baja Dogs La Paz distributes vouchers to families in these communities that can be redeemed at one of our approved veterinarians’ offices located throughout La Paz . The sterilization vouchers include the surgery as well as post-surgery medications. The vets are paid by Baja Dogs La Paz, and the family receives the service free of charge. Your donation of just $25 USD covers one sterilization, and prevents up to 67,000 dogs over several generations. Bottom line: your donation counts.
Many of the families in the communities we serve lack the transportation resources to bring their dogs to one of our local vet offices. To help these families, we hold single-day sterilization events in local communities throughout La Paz. On the scheduled day, our licensed veterinarians come to the event site to spend the day performing surgeries. Baja Dogs provides shade, food, water, volunteers and basic equipment, and coordinates the entire event. Families throughout the community come with their dogs, some come in trucks, some bring them in wheelbarrows. They come using electrical cords or a simple rope as leashes. One family even brought their dog to a recent event in a toy truck pushed by the children. These families want to do what is best for their dogs. The love they show their pets is incredible, and given the chance, they jump at the chance to participate in our sterilization campaigns. Your donation can ensure these families can do the single best thing they can for their dog: sterilize.
Baja Dogs La Paz works with several local veterinarians throughout La Paz to provide preventive care services to underserved communities. Our approved veterinarians are all licensed and have extensive experience in performing sterilizations and other preventive care. These vets are committed to helping us address the need for sterilization campaigns and have volunteered their time and services to help. Your donations help us pay these vets for the hundreds of surgeries they perform for us each year through our voucher program.
In addition to working with local vets, Baja Dogs supports the work of local rescue organizations through grants and other funding. These organizations all do important work, from rescuing and fostering La Paz’s street dogs to coordinating adoptions.
